Mechanical Keys

The old car key.  And when we say old we mean like what your grandpa used to drive in the 70’s & 80’s.  These are referred to in the locksmithing world as mechanical keys.  Just plain metal keys.  These days they may have a thin piece of plastic on the key head but they are just metal keys at their core.  No chips, resistors or transponders are found in this type of key.  These keys are harder to find these days.  However, 88 Locksmiths does, on most occasions, have these keys available to purchase.  Call us if you need one of these keys made for your old Chevy, Dodge or Ford.

Remote Head Keys are keys have both a transponder (chip) and a circuit board for the remote function to unlock/lock doors, trunk or hatch.  You will have to have Remote Head Keys programmed by an automotive locksmith, like 88 Locksmiths, to your cars computer to enable them to function.  The transponder allows your car to start when the key is turned, and the remote function controls the doors etc.  Sometimes we can program both (the transponder and remote) at the same time depending on the type of remote head key system you have and other times we have to program the transponder to the car separately from the remote.  Here at 88 Locksmiths we are experts in the programming of Remote Head Keys.  Call us if you need any of these keys for your vehicle.  Be sure to have the make, model and year of the car available for us.
